Tres Noir Handmade Optics was born when two brothers wanted to create a sunglass brand that fit their needs for style and quality. They also wanted to create a brand that fit their lifestyle and reflected a more real, gritty, side of so-cal culture including art, music, kustom cars, motorcycles, surfing and skating.

There is a special story about Tres Noir and SunSetStar to tell you. When Green Day played in Berlin a couple of weeks ago one of their production manager went to SunsetStar Berlin and asked for Tres Noir Optics. Billy Joe Armstrong needed a new one on the road! We re very happy to present MERC here at the SunsetStar HQ.
Merc was born in 1967 in the centre of fashionable and chic Carnaby Street, only metres away from where the flagship store is located today. It was started by a young Mr Javid Alavi.

During the 1960’s, Britain saw an explosion of many bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, who flocked to the Mecca of Fashion, Carnaby St. Colour television brought the UK Top of the Pops and Carnaby Street became the epicentre of a new ground breaking fashion scene. It attracted the young and the sophisticated.

Over more than 40 years, Merc has developed into an international symbol of classic British clothing. It stands as a true British company that has survived five decades of trading and still remains privately owned today.

So you see - it fits perfect into our wide range of products.
